ABUNDANT LIFE THROUGH HOLY SPIRIT LIVING
“WHY NOT BE UNCOMMON?
# 2
Acts 10:15
“And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that
call not thou common.”
John 10:10
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
God has designed that the saved person can be uncommon. Far too many Christians are common instead
of uncommon.
What causes Christians to be common?.
A spirit of fear has cheated many out of becoming unique, extraordinary, great, and aggressive.
II Timothy
1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound
mind.”
The fear of what others think of them has defeated them from forging ahead. Then on the other
hand the lack of consecration is another cause for just being common. Very few lives are fully consecrated,
fully yielded to God. They feel that their lives are their own. That they can live as they please.
Then there is another reason, and that is, not being filled with the Holy Ghost. It is the Holy Spirit that
cleanses, empowers, leads, comforts, blesses, and inspires. Thus making every one different, and willing
to go farther with God than others go, and to be original.
What are the dangers of being common?
There are many dangers all around us daily. On the road. In the home. At work. On the land, on the
sea, and in the air. But the one of the greatest dangers which faces Christians is that of just being common.
It robs people of originality, uniqueness, leadership, and distinctiveness. It hinders them from entering
into the plan of God for their lives.
II Timothy 1:9 -
“Who hath saved us, and called us with an
holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was
given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.”
God has a plan and a place for every Christian. Every life is a fresh thought from God. There are no
two faces alike, no two voices exactly alike, but each one is different. Being common robs people of
initiativeness and progress. It robs them of rising higher than those around them. From going farther
than others go, from accomplishing more than others accomplish. It brings self-satisfaction and self-justification.
Theses people will die some day, be missed little and soon forgotten.
