A Saved Man that is World Controlled #3
Romans 8:9-11
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in
you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the
body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him
that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also
quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
The moment that we are saved the Spirit of God takes up His abode in our body. We need to realize that
the moment we get saved the Holy Spirit makes our bodies the temple of His abode.
I Corinthians 6:19-20
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have
of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your
body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
We must see that Christ not only died for us, but that we died with Christ.
Galatians 2:20
“I am crucified
with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in
the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
Anything
that Christ would not do in His Body must be put away from our bodies.
Now let us just be practical for a moment. Think with me on the movies, dancing, card playing, Sunday
sports, gambling etc.
I John 2:15-17
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.
If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust
of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for
ever.”
Now think with me just a moment on worldly clubs, organizations, lodges, unsaved companions and
friends.
II Corinthians 6:14-18
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And
what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And
what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God
hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my
people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not
the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons
and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
Then consider wrong habits like tobacco, drinking, reading matter, radio and television.
Galatians 5:17-24
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the
one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are
not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife,
seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell
you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the
kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness,
faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified
the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
Now ladies, how about the way in which you dress?
Deuteronomy 22:5
“The woman shall not wear that
which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are
abomination unto the LORD thy God.”
Zeph 1:8
"And it shall come to pass in the day of the
LORD's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are
clothed with strange apparel."
I Tim 2:9
“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in
modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or
costly array;”
Isaiah 47:1-3
“Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on
the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender
and delicate. Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover
the thigh, pass over the rivers. Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be
seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.”
Men, how about our hair?
I Corinthians 11:14 & 16
“Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man
have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such
custom, neither the churches of God.”
Think about it, just maybe we are letting the world have too much control.
