CHRIST DIRECTED SERVICE # 2

Haggai 1:6
“Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye
are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.”

John 21:3-6
"Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with
thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
"But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus."
"Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No."
"And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes."

Don't look back – don't look back, You've come too far to turn back now.

Take a close look at these apostles. May I say that the trouble was not necessarily in their going fishing. After all, this was the only trade most of them knew. It was their means of making a living. Surely there is nothing wrong with making a living. They could have sat down and have eaten the bread of idleness. After all, idleness is one of the devil's greatest tools. Fathers go astray. Mothers waste time. Children become delinquents. At least they were using their natural talents.

No, you see, the trouble was they began to operate in their own selfwill. "I go a fishing." Let me put it in the Words of the Bible.

James 4:13-15
"Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that."

The trouble was not in going fishing. But the trouble was in not seeking the leadership of the Lord. Notice closely what happened when they did listen. They used the same ship. They used the same net. They used the same waters. They used the same men. ONLY they did it by the command of the Lord. And the results were astounding.

What a difference it makes when we see the leadership of the Lord.
