CHRIST DIRECTED SERVICE # 1

Haggai 1:6
“Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye
are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.”

John 21:3-6
"Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with
thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
"But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus."
"Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No."
"And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes."

Christ had now been crucified. He had also appeared to the apostles on two occasions before this. On the first Sunday night. And again a week later. Now - one of the most amazing statements by Peter - "I go a fishing." And those with him - "We also go with thee."

Can you imagine? Mary had seen the Lord. The ten apostles had seen Him. Then all eleven of the apostles had seen Him. They all knew He that was dead was now alive. And yet they turn back to the old way of life.

You say - "Not me, I wouldn't have turned back after seeing Him die on the cross and now seeing Him alive, I sure wouldn't turn back to the old way of life again." But the truth of the matter is that many of us turn back with a whole lot less reason than they. How easy it is to drift back into the old way of life if we are not careful.

In the next few Nuggets of Gold/Inspirational Thoughts I hope to show you how to overcome this tendency. Don't forget the admonition of the Lord in Luke 9:62 - “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
