ABUNDANT LIFE THROUGH HOLY SPIRIT LIVING
THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT # 2

I Corinthians 6:19-20
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

This Scripture is addressed to the Saints of God. The Holy Spirit is a Spirit, and He desires a temple, a body, in which He may dwell, and through which He may work. The Body of the Christian is the temple, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Now let us see more areas.

The Temple confined.

The tabernacle of the Old Testament had a court about it which kept it restricted from strangers. No one could enter in only through the gate and that with an offering, or a sacrifice. On the walls within were written warnings informing the Gentiles that they were restricted from entering. The temple had a holy place in which only the priests could enter daily. And the most holy of Holies was enshrined with
the Shekinah Glory, the very presence of God.

Beloved, the Bible declares to us that our bodies, being the temple of the Holy Spirit, is the “naos” or temple of the Holy Spirit. Our bodies should enshrine the laws of God. That is, the laws of God are to be written upon our hearts. This keeps out everything of this world. Let me illustrate.

Psalms 34:4
“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

Psalms 34:6
“This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”

Psalms 34:15
“The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.”

Psalms 34:17
“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”

Psalms 37:4
“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Psalms 40:1-3 -
“I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.”

Psalms 86:7 -
“In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.”

Oh yes, the Shekinah Glory dwells within our bodies and makes the very presence of God real to us.
